The new FSA liquidity risk regulatory regime (PS09/16)
On 15 October 2009, avantage Capita conducted a briefing event discussing practical issues in implementing the new FSA liquidity risk regulatory regime (PS09/16: Strengthening liquidity standards) as well as anticipated future developments which may impact the new regime (Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, European Commission and CEBS, etc.).
The event began with a discussion of the International and European regulatory developments and trends in liquidity risk management by Frederic Gielen, Partner, avantage Capita Limited.
This was then followed by an overview of the new FSA Liquidity Risk Regulatory on Strengthening Liquidity Standards (PS09/16) by Timothy Buenker, Policy Advisor, British Bankers' Association.
The final formal presentation was by Luke Benton, Senior Manager, and Nigel Walker, Head of the Liquidity Risk Management Practice of avantage Capita Limited and highlighted implementation issues and the challenges that the new liquidity risk regime poses in practice, with some handy tips on how to meet these challenges.
The event concluded with a question and answer session involving the speakers, who answered questions from attendees.
