avantage CVA Briefing at the NVB (Dutch Bankers’ Association) - “CRD IV Implementation Challenges: Credit Valuation Adjustment”

On Friday 17th February 2012 avantage co-hosted a Basel III Business Breakfast at the premises of the Dutch Bankers’Association (NVB) in Amsterdam.

It was the first of a series of joint events in co-operation with the NVB targeting senior executives of the main financial institutions in the Netherlands. The meeting was attended by senior managers working in the Risk, Finance and Operations domains of 6 of the country’s largest banks.

The overall purpose of this session was to provide an insight in current CRD IV negotiations and provide practical guidance on one of the major implementation challenges, being CVA.

After Natalja Sesterikova and Felix Arons of Dutch Ministry of Finance explained the policy making and implementation process at both European and national level, Onno Steins, Risk advisor of the NVB, elaborated on the main points of interests for the Dutch banking industry and the position of the NVB in particular.

Subsequently, Martin Clark, partner of avantage Reply Ltd, focused on the operational and business challenges of CRD IV regulation. In his presentation on CVA implementation he covered practical implementation issues and provided useful tips on the back of avantage’s experience running a number of large IMM and CVA projects across the industry.
