avantage presents to the International Committee of the Investment Company Institute
On 4 February 2010 avantage were very pleased to be invited by the International Committee of the Investment Company Institute (ICI) Chaired by David Oestreicher Chief Legal Counsel for T. Rowe Price Associates Inc. to participate in a briefing session on Trends in Risk Management and regulatory developments for the Asset Management Industry
Frederic Gielen, Partner; Iain Wright Partner and Will German Managing Consultant provided an overview of:
- Overall trends in risk management for the buy side, including the FSA's concerns;
- Credit and counterparty risk management: Insights into how risk managers assess credit and counterparty risk (e.g., use of ratings, etc.);
- Liquidity risk management: PS09/16 and other regulatory initiatives across Europe;
- UCITS IV, CESR principles of risk management, and other areas of interest.
ICI members based in North America, and Europe attended. We note that that directors who serve on both US and EU boards are definitely sensitive to the risk management developments in Europe and are bringing ideas across the Atlantic.
