We will discuss principle 7 of the Solvency II requirements, namely  independent review. The principle states that insurers should subject their models to suitable regular independent review - internal or external depending on materiality - to validate the appropriateness of the model and be able to demonstrate that the model remains fit for purpose in changing circumstances. We will discuss what this means in practice and what the role of internal audit should be in carrying out the independent review.
